High School Plein Air

Guest Speaker

Open to the Public –

The Cincinnati Art Club and Gorman Heritage Farm are excited to announce the sixth annual Greater Cincinnati High School Art Students Plein Air Art Competition. The contest will be held Saturday, September 24 and Sunday, September 25, 2022, at Gorman Heritage Farm, Evendale, Cincinnati, Ohio. An invitation has gone out to high school art teachers in the Greater Cincinnati region to nominate their best art students to attend our annual event. Those high school students accepted into the competition meet on two days over a weekend to work from life in an outdoor setting, or working “en plein air.” Using supplied materials, all the artists are free to create their own interpretation of the venue.

On Sunday, October 2, 2022, an Exhibition of the completed work will be held at the Herman & Bessie Wessel Gallery, Cincinnati Art Club, 1021 Parkside Place, Cincinnati, Ohio. All artwork completed by the student artists will be on display. Recognized professional artists of the CAC will judge the submitted artwork for prizes. A CAC Artists’ Choice, 3rd, 2nd, and 1st Place Award will be given.

The High School Plein Air location has changed over the years. Our first two events were hosted by the Cincinnati Zoo and Botanical Gardens, we then moved to Eden Park in Cincinnati, then Greenacres Arts Center in Indian Hill. This year we start a partnership with Gorman Heritage Farm. We extend our warmest thanks to these hosts for their support and warm welcome!

We also cannot thank our sponsors enough for their gracious support! A special shout out to Plaza Artists Supplies and an Anonymous Donor for their generosity.
