The Cincinnati Art Club, Spring Grove Cemetery and Arboretum, and award support from Interlochen Summer Arts Camp are excited to announce the eight annual Greater Cincinnati High School Art Students Plein Air Art Competition.

Spring Grove Cemetery and Arboretum
An invitation has been sent to high school art teachers in the Greater Cincinnati region to nominate three of their best art students to attend our annual event. Those high school students accepted into the competition meet for one day to work from life in an outdoor setting, that is working “en plein air.” Using only the materials provided, all the student artists are free to create their own interpretation of the location.

Sunday, September 29, 2024, 2:00-4:00 PM. The exhibition of the completed work will be held at the Herman & Bessie Wessel Gallery, Cincinnati Art Club, 1021 Parkside Place, Cincinnati, Ohio. All artwork completed by the student artists will be exhibited. Recognized professional artists of the CAC will judge the artwork for Four Levels of Cash prizes, Artist Choice Award, and each participant will receive a $1000 Interlochen Arts Camp 2025 Scholarship Certificate.

AWARDS
Judges will present awards at the Cincinnati Art Club on Sunday, September 29, 2024.

• 1st Prize- $500. The First-Place winner will also take home a Trophy for their high school to display. Plus, the Interlochen Arts Camp will award a full tuition scholarship to a 3- or 6-week Visual Arts 2025 Summer Camp.
• 2nd Prize- $200. Plus, the Interlochen Arts Camp will award a full tuition scholarship to a 3- or 6-week Visual Arts 2025 Summer Camp.
• 3rd Prize- $150. Plus, the Interlochen Arts Camp will award a 75% tuition scholarship to a 3- or 6-week Visual Arts 2025 Summer Camp.
• 4th Prize- $100. Plus, the Interlochen Arts Camp will award a $2000 scholarship to a 3- or 6-week Visual Arts 2025 Summer Camp.
• CAC Artists’ Choice- $50. Plus, the Interlochen Arts Camp will award a $1500 scholarship to a 3- or 6-week Visual Arts 2025 Summer Camp.
• All other HSPA participants will receive a $1000 Interlochen Arts Camp 2025 Scholarship Certificate

The 4 Award-Winning works will be framed and displayed at The Cincinnati Art Museum Education Center during the 2024-2025 season. The previous year’s winners will move to the Cincinnati Zoo Education Center during the 2024-2025 period.

The High School Plein Air location has changed over the years. Our first two events were hosted by the Cincinnati Zoo and Botanical Gardens, we then moved to Eden Park in Cincinnati, Greenacres Arts Center in Indian Hill, Gorman Heritage Farm and Cincinnati Parks Mt. Echo Park last year. This year we are being hosted at: Spring Grove Cemetery and Arboretum, 4521 Spring Grove Ave., Cincinnati, OH 45232
